The simplicity of men's wear.

The simplicity of men’s wear

When I’m out and about, I often find myself observing what men wear. And I notice — it doesn’t vary much.
T-shirts, polos, vests, jeans, chinos, a jacket. Simple, practical, no fuss.
That quiet simplicity inspired me to do the same: create timeless pieces without unnecessary noise.

Because I work mainly with deadstock textiles, each fabric tells a story of its own — and it’s only available once. When the roll is finished, it’s gone.
The design may stay the same, but the fabric transforms it completely. Texture, weight, and weave give every garment its own character.

Every piece is hand-sewn by me. Working with familiar patterns allows me to focus on refining the craft — on how each fabric behaves, stretches, folds, and falls. A coat in a light summer weave drapes differently than one in a dense winter fabric. That’s the beauty and the challenge of it.

Sometimes I feel the pull to learn something new — that’s when a new design appears.
But this is a small, one-person business. I also have a job, and, like everyone else, a life outside the studio. So some garments take time before they’re ready.

Rushing leads to compromise, and that’s not what by Peter Ruijs stands for.
Patience is part of the process — and of wearing clothes that last.
Buy something only if you truly want it. Think about it for a night.
It’s better for the environment — and for your wallet.
